Finding A Good R.E. Agent
Interview
Talk with many different Real Estate Agents when you first get ready to buy. At this point, you will be able to think more clearly and make a good decision on “Who will work best in providing for the needs of me and my family?”.
Who Do You Feel Most Comfortable Working With?
Because you will be spending a lot of time with a good Real Estate Agent, make sure you feel comfortable asking questions. There should be no question unanswered. This is one of the largest purchases, if not the largest expense you will ever incur. If you are not sure, ask. Do they respect that your time is important. Do they return your phone calls. Most importantly, YOU will know when it is right. Remember you are the boss, not them.
Do They Understand Your Ultimate Scenario?
If you are truly comfortable with your Buyer Agent, you will want them to know your ultimate scenario. This will enable them to spend their time finding what is really important to you. For example: your desired dream home, your school zone, your neighborhood, your home type, your price range, etc…..
Don’t Look At What You Can Not Afford!
Do not be pressured by piers, friends, coworkers and etc., once you know what you and your family are able to afford. Many things will influence you to try to afford more, but do not get off track. At the end of the month it is not any of the people listed above making your mortgage payment. Keep your eye on your prize, but do not stretch to afford more.
Drive By
This is a great idea once you have started to receive some MLS Listings from your Buyer Agent. It will allow you to drive by the home prior to viewing the inside to see the neighborhood, school, markets, pharmacies and any other things that are needed in your day to day lives. It is also a great idea to drive by on either a Friday or Saturday night to have a realistic idea of the neighborhood. 90% of the neighbors will be home and you can see and hear what the noise & environmental influences will be.
Look At Many Homes, Don’t Settle “House Hunting”
Unlike most women, guys are not good shoppers. Women have a keen eye on things when shopping. They very seldom get off track when searching for something. Think of homes like shoes, you don’t settle for the first ones you try on. Don’t settle for the first one you look at. Enjoy looking, as looking at many homes will give you ideas for what you like and don’t like. You will know when it is right.
